A carte-de-visite (CDV) photograph titled "Synagogue, Hanover Street" on the mount recto. The image depicts an outdoor view of the facade of the synagogue building on Hanover Street in Baltimore, featuring a prominent portico. The verso of the mount includes the photographer's imprint, "D. R. Stiltz & Co., View Photographers, Office at Butler, Perrigo & Way's, 168 W. Baltimore St., Up Stairs," and a copyright statement: "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1864, by D. R. Stiltz & Co., in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of Maryland." A pencil inscription on the verso notes that "Henrietta Szold's father was rabbi of this synagogue 'Hanover St. Synagogue'." This building was the early home of Temple Oheb Shalom, founded in 1853, and was later renovated in 1870.
