This check, dated December 14, 1876, is drawn by C.V. Levy, Attorney at Law, on the First National Bank in Frederick, Maryland. It is made out to Wm. R. Hill, attorney for Wm. R. Barnes & Co., for the amount of $7.60. The check features an ornate vignette of Miss Liberty on the left side and decorative Victorian-style lettering for the bank's name. A blue revenue stamp is affixed to the upper right corner. The reverse includes endorsements by Wm. R. Hill, R.M. Hoffe (for Wm. R. Barnes & Co.), and B.T.
