Scott is too busy preparing for General Jackson's funeral to meet with Seixas that day, but will meet the following day. The letter also mentions an autobiography of Scott by Durey and a eulogy delivered by W.A. Scott for Jackson in New Orleans. The letter is physically located in Arc.MS.56, Box 2, Folder 10.

Handwritten notice dated March 17, 1844, from New Orleans, Louisiana, addressed to Isaac Leeser for inclusion in *The Occident*. The notice announces the formation of the Hebrew Benevolent Association, the adoption of its constitution, and the election of its officers: Gershom Kursheedt (President) and J. Ezekiel (Secretary). Measuring 5.5 x 8 inches, this may be the earliest surviving record of the first Jewish self-help society in New Orleans. The notice was likely written and sent by J. Ezekiel. The Constitution is not listed in Rosenbach.
