This book, authored by Dr. Jonathan Pereira, is considered the first book on diet written by a Jew and published in the USA. First published in London in 1843, this edition was published by J. Langley & Co. in New York City in 1843. The book provides a comprehensive discussion of food and diet, with specific observations and recommendations for individuals suffering from digestive disorders. First edition of *Gotham and the Gothamites: A Medley*, a satirical work by Samuel Benjamin Helbert Judah published in New York in 1823. The book, considered libelous due to its satirical portrayal of prominent New York citizens, led to Judah's imprisonment. He was later pardoned due to poor health and subsequently became a lawyer. A similar copy sold at Swann Auction Galleries on December 4, 2003, for $1265 (Lot #313). The book was exhibited at the Museum of the City of New York's Jewish History Exhibit from May to December 2005.

Newspaper supplement to Niles' Weekly Register, Volume IV, New Series, No. 20, published in Baltimore, Maryland on August 21, 1819. This issue contains a review of Mordecai Manuel Noah's *Travels in England, France, Spain, and the Barbary States in the Years 1813-1815*, potentially the first review of a book by a Jewish American author.
