This is a post-Civil War trade token issued circa 1883 in Leadville, Colorado, by Ben Loeb's saloon and brothel. The token is made of nickel and features the inscription "BEN LOEB 10c". Ben Loeb, born in Germany in 1846, immigrated to America in 1866, and worked in Dallas, Texas before moving to Leadville in 1881. In Leadville, he managed the Delmonico Hotel and Bar for three years before establishing Loeb's Palace of Pleasure, a burlesque theater and brothel. He died in 1912 and was buried by the Hebrew Society.
